Sidmouth Folk Festival - Is looking good this year

Nearly time to see some lovely Folk on the Devon coast

At the start of August, the normally relaxed and sleepy seaside town of Sidmouth, in South Devon, become a riot of noise and colour as the Folk Festival takes over every fibre of the town. The heart of the festival in the town centre is The Ham, on the seafront itself, which this year sees daytime concerts including sets from John Tams, Banter and Leveret. With evenings featuring some Folk favourites such as Jon Boden, Richard Thompson, The East Pointers, Sharon Shannon and more.

For those looking for a lively evening, The Bulverton is where you want to be, on the edge of town by the main campsite, with shuttle buses running until the small hours. Here you'll get a full-on concert, followed by a Sidmouth classic a 'Late Nigh Extra' which is a ceilidh from 11 am to around 1 am before staggering back to your tent or the bus. This year the Bulverton is headlined by some amazing acts inlcuding Talisk and Seth Lakeman, with ceilidhs including Whapweasal and the Queer Ceildh Band.

If that's not enough, there are more ceilidhs in the Anchor Pub every day, and another in the river of course, yes really!!!. Plus, there are concerts and morris dancers, pretty much everywhere you turn in the town and a full kids programme for the families. It all comes to a close on the Friday night with a torchlight parade along the seafront. There really is something for everyone at the Sidmouth Folk Festival, so why don't you give it a go..
