Nile - What should not be Unearthed

(CD Album Review)

****

Death Metal's finest release another great album!

It depends who you ask when it comes to Nile. While some regard them as technical geniuses... while others find them a little too potent. But everyone realise's that Nile are a force to be reckoned with in the Death Metal genre, and they have never backed down from anything on their many albums. Trying out different ideas and mixing it up, to make some very interesting material.

Nile after pushing the boundaries of extremity for over twenty years, have done things to the extreme on the last few albums. But for me have been somewhat bloated due to over technicality, over long songs etc.. Rest assured though Nile have delivered an album that is “Just Right” with this one, and all the excess fat is cut away. 'What should not be Unearthed' ticks all the boxes and should please just about everyone.

Nile sound hungry, engaged and above all like they are enjoying themselves. They are heavier than ever, you only need to hear the first ten seconds of the brilliant opening track 'Call to Destruction' to establish that. 'Evil to cast out Evil' the albums highlight is not only one of Nile greatest tracks but it’s one of the songs of the year. So I just can't stop listening to it, this is a Death Metal song you just have to hear. The groove to this song so stands out and get's in your head, and does not want to go away.

'In the name of Amu' I am sure is a song that will be added to the bands live set now and in years to come. While 'Age of Famine' and the nasty named 'Rape of the black Earth', really pack a punch and make you think of the World we live in and make the album a real Nile masterpiece. You can really see that Karl has spent time making sure that all the riffs are played to perfection.

The main riff, the groove, the catchy chorus it’s Death Metal perfection! The album is an effortless listen, it just plays itself with each of the tracks flowing into the next, Karl Sanders riffs can cut down trees and the bands secret weapon George Kollias gives an earth shattering performance behind the kit.

Whatever you favorite Nile album is (Most vouch for either 'Black seeds of Vengeance' or 'Annihilation of the Wicked'), I guarantee this album will stand toe to toe with it. Nile is more vital than ever, and a band that will keep making strong albums that are well worth the listen.
