James Robinson - Start a Fire

A small fire has started burning!

Previously James Robinson has appeared on a stage with many a household name, playing guitar for amongst others Bruno Mars and also fronting his own band Two spot Gobi he has made the decision to go it alone.

Before even pressing play on the new EP I am sure it is was the right move for him, if only to not have to listen / play Bruno Mars songs every day. His solo music is a world away from mainstream Pop anyway with a much more laid back and stripped bare feel. Focused on the guitar with a Folk feel about it, accompanied by some percussion and that is the extent of it.

Although of course it is not really what it is about, it is the well crafted tunes and a voice that just seems to draw you in. By the last track the music is almost part of the background sounds, but in a good way in that it is very easy on the ear. The opening track and title track is really the stand out number really setting out his stall and drawing you into his sound. Hopefully this EP is just the start of much more he can offer a solo artist. He may have started a fire and on this evidence he could burn bright for a while.
