****3/4

A night of mystery and supence in London with the 'Magic Man' !!!

Jackson Wang ****3/4 first came to stardom with his the Korean boyband GOT7, who released five studio albums from 2014 to 2022. Now Jackson Wang is solo, and he has a great determination to make it big Worldwide. And if anything is to go by with this show, this is going to come quickly... if it has not already arrived because he has ninety million followers over social media. And because tonight's performance which is his only UK show couldn't be more Sold Out!!!, with people apparently paying three hundred and seventy pounds on the secondary market. In order not to miss out, so everyone is tightly packed into the iconic London venue.

There is no support tonight, so the audience get's to watch a montage of Jackson Wang's music videos... which they all scream to. Then there is pyrotechnics to open everything up, before Jackson comes down in a lit up lift in the middle of the stage. This looks amazing, and is a great opening to his show. In a way for me Jackson Wang is like the Asian equivalent to Michael Jackson, you can see by some of his dance moves that he really has been inspired by the King of Pop. This was really shown in opening number '100 Ways', which really starts the evening off in the right way. Trust me you will know this song, it's so catchy and get's a lot of radio play... even in the UK. Not to mention the 'Thriller' esq. rise from the dead section, that comes in the track 'Go Ghost'. This is an artist that really knows how to put on a show, and he is going to show the UK this.

For me my favourite song in his set is the really beautiful 'Blackout', which has him moving around the smoke that has filled the bottom of the stage like a heavenly creature (that might had a little sense of Hell in him). In this track he does some great Dance moves, and you can really see he has something special. And that he is confident in his stage presence, he never looks nervous... and you think he would be with this being a really big night for him. And with something he said during his performance, that he has always dreamed about doing a solo London show. And this is a Sold Out!!! performance in London, a city that he had visited and loved countless times. You have to remember Jackson Wang is just a performer, here to entertain you... and that he is nobody special. Which he tells us all countless times, and that everyone that has come to see him has the ability to do what he is doing. But I think this might be a little away from the truth, because I personally think he has something special. And not everyone has the ability to perform as well as he does, which is magical to watch. Well as he said on his latest album, he is the 'Magic Man'. And this is really shown in London, because he has conjured up a magical evening.

Jackson Wang is not only an accomplished singer, he is also a professional dancer. And at moments in the show, you think you could be watching the 'Magic Mike' stage show. Yes! the dancing is that good, and it is quite something to watch. And the girls in the audience are really captivated by every motion he does, and Jackson really knows this and uses it to his advantage. He really gives you value for money, because the show is over two and half hours long. So you get all the songs you want to hear, and so much more. Including the hits 'Come Alive' and 'Blow', which by now everyone in attendance knows all the lyrics to. And they are all not afraid to sing them, I know I have been singing them all the time since the show.

'Just like Magic' see's hooded figures moving Jackson around the stage, to end the first segment of his show. I really like how Jackson can move the tempo of his music up, without it interfearing with momentum at all. I really loved the Billie Ellish esq. song 'Blue', and there was a moment in the set I also loved where he played a riff that sound similar to the Mansun hit 'Legacy'. I think Jackson Wang must have a love for Indie and Rock music, and this comes out at points in the set. But he really makes it his own, and mixes it up with his own unique style. Which is almost like nothing else, especially on 'Blue' and the track that follows it 'Dopemine' which are just heavenly.

He comes back to the stage in the most amazing red suit, to sing one of the songs I can't get out of my head 'LMLY', which has a great Retro vibe to it. This sounds like a 90's track, and I just love it. Jackson then invites a member of the audience up to sing 'I love you 3000', he sits her on the steps at the back of the stage. She sings with him, and knows every word, and actually has a great voice. Which must have been a very special moment for her, and every girl in the crowd wishes it was them he is singing to. He does invite another girl to the stage later on for 'Dead', and takes her for a ride in his lift... but this doesn't have such an impact as the first time he get's a fan up. There are just so many great moments, like 'Come Alive' that see's Jackson dressed a bit like Robert Pattison in Batman. With smudged black eyeliner, fishnet top and black jacket. This song is one of the ones I know the best, because it has a great music video to it... you can see it at the bottom of this page if you have not already seen it.

He ends his main show with brilliant versions of his hits 'Cruel' and 'Blow' which you will all know so well, both of these make a great ending to the main set. He comes back on for an encore to end the whole show with a megamix Dance party to a montage of his hits, this seems to go on forever and is the low point for me. Everyone just goes so crazy, and I don't think it was needed when he ended the main set so well. I feel he didn't really need to come back on, the main set was so perfect. I think the best is still to come with Jackson Wang, he is most certainly an artist that I will be checking out more in the future. If you have not seen his show yet, then it is one that your really shouldn't miss... it's one of the best shows I have seen for a long time. A megastar is born!!!.
