Global challenges don't effect Electric Six
Electric Six's sixteenth studio album / with also four live albums, it really is a testament to the band's resilience and dedication to their craft. Originally slated for release in 2020, the album faced delays due to the global challenges brought about by the Covid-19 pandemic. However, the wait was undoubtedly worth it, as the band delivers a musical journey that showcases their signature blend of various genres, infectious beats, and a healthy dose of silliness.
The tracklist itself reads like a rollercoaster of sonic experiences, offering something for every listener. 'Take me to the Sugar' kicks things off with an upbeat, danceable energy, setting the stage for what's to come. 'Dr. K' follows with a mysterious allure, showcasing the band's ability to transition seamlessly between different musical moods. 'Hot numbers on the Telephone' and 'Panic!, Panic!' continue the album's exploration of diverse genres, from Rock to Pop. Electric Six's versatility shines through, keeping the listener on their toes with each track. 'Turquoise' introduces a new flavor, perhaps a bit more experimental, while 'Skyrocketing' brings back the danceable beats that the band is known for.
'Born to be Ridiculed' and 'Child of Hunger' dive deeper into the Rock elements, displaying the band's prowess in crafting both catchy and substantial tunes. 'Staten island ass Squad' injects a dose of humor into the mix, staying true to Electric Six's tradition of delivering both musical and lyrical wit. 'Window of Time' and 'Units of Time' slow down the tempo, showcasing the band's ability to create poignant moments amidst the lively chaos. 'Five Clowns' brings back the energy with a playful vibe, and 'The Browning of her Bones' adds a touch of darkness to the proceedings.
"The Wheel finds a Way" concludes the album on a high note, tying together the eclectic journey that Electric Six takes the listener on. The sixteen studio album not only affirms the band's status as one of the hardest working in the industry but also solidifies their reputation for delivering music that is as dynamic as it is entertaining. In a world where musical boundaries are constantly pushed, Electric Six remains a reliable source of originality and fun.
