In Dynamics - Circles

(CD EP Review)

***
Are running round in circles trying to find their identity!

Opening with 'Equal Ground' a song that starts in an anthem Esq. way and has really hints of We are the Ocean to it and other Post-Rock bands around on the same scene. I think maybe if you mixed this with Biffy Clyro you would have In Dynamics on this track. It is really good if not a little two short but it does have a mainstream Rock feel to it. This is the best track on the EP and worth a listen to.

After this song second track 'Liposuction' is a real disappointment Post-Rock trying to rap! I am not really sure this works even though it has some nice segments in the song like the harmony type chanting at the end and the guitars that sound a little like they are lifted from an Arcane Roots records, maybe this is because their producer is Chris Coulter who worked with Arcane Roots. I thou think this band should never try to rap again it is simply horrible and I think this track could have been quite good without it.

Third track 'Symmetry' is better it's a catchy Emo Pop Rock track that has elements of it broken up in the stop start fashion of Biffy Clyro but if they met maybe You and me at Six in a bar room brawl and Arcane Roots were providing the tables and chairs. I think sometimes they are finding it hard to find their own sound and the brilliant 'Running Hands' just seems like they are trying to be someone else. In this case Biffy Clyro, but they are young and I think in time will get their own sound and when they do they will be a band that you will struggle to get a ticket to see. You can listen to the track 'Running Hands' at the bottom of the page and make your own mind up about it. If I had to be really critical their are parts that seem to be almost identical to songs by In Dynamics favourite band.

This also continues on final track 'I never make Sense' even though this track seems to have more of themselves in it. This is a good EP and it was nice to listen to but I wouldn't run out by it, but I think the band show a lot of promise so are worth looking out for in the future and if their on a bill of a concert I am going to I might check them out to see if they have got any better.
