Indian Metal mastermind shines with new band

Demonstealer is the solo project of Indian modern day Metal legend Sahil Makhija, founder of India’s first Extreme Metal label and mastermind behind Reptilian Death and Demonic Resurection. He is also the host of the online cooking show Headbanger’s Kitchen and the host of the Indian Metal Podcast.

'This Burden is Mine' is the second Demonstealer album which was crowd funded and has George Kollias perform as guest session on the drums. The album mixes all the elements of Progessive Death Metal with tons of melodies, hooks and the use of clean vocals actually outweighs the harsh Death Metal growls.

Opening with 'How the mighty have Fallen' this track is actually the most extreme on the album, so on the first listen if you are not familiar with the band you will be gearing yourself up for a Death Metal album but when the second track 'An unforgiving Truth' kicks in a slow melodic track which brings to mind Dio. You will see your in for quite a mixed bag, the two tracks show polar opposites of the spectrum this album covers and the rest of the album covers all ground in between.

What’s great about this album is how mixed it is. Sahil’s guitar work is impeccable, the solos and leads are amazing and while the album isn’t short on heaviness and brutal moments, there are infectious melodies running throughout making all the songs memorable and stick in your head.  The soaring chorus to songs like 'Frail Fallible' and 'The Failures of Man' is amazing.

What’s great about albums like this is that you can just tell it’s been put together with love. His passion and enthusiasm is so infectious and inspiring. There is something for everyone on this album for fans of Death to Dio to Dream Theater to Devin Townsend. Regardless of sub genre’s this is a classic metal album through and through.
