Dagoba - Post mortem nihil Est

(CD Album Review)

****

Another fine export from France!!!

The way this album has been marketed you'd think this was a debut but while researching Dagoba it was a surprise that they have actually been releasing albums since 2003! So their actually a catalogue to investigate anyway on with this album.

'Post mortem nihil Est' is a nice hybrid of groove based Metal with Industrial undertones. The vocals sway between clean and screaming, The band have put together a good mixed batch of songs that gel together very well. Their main strength being strong, melodic chorus. this mainly being showcased on tracks like 'Kiss Ne, Kraken, The Great wonder' and 'Oblivion is for the Living'.

The funny thing with this album is if this was released twelve years ago it would have been lumped in with Nu-metal, the other side of that coin is it would have been labeled as one of the best albums of that time too. It has that crunchy, down tuned sound that so many of those albums had. However it's nice to hear today. If you miss mid-era Fear Factory when they had more melody and enjoy big chorus' with hooky riffs this is definitely worth checking out.
