Buckcherry - The Best of

(CD Album Review)

****

They have a need for Cocaine, but is this album better than drugs!

If your a fan of Classic and Cock Rock you will know of Buckcherry... They have been around a while, since we first heard Josh Todd sing about his need for Cocaine. Their 'The Best of' Eg. 'Greatest Hits' starts off with this track 'Lit Up' and for me their was no other track than they should have started with. This songs has hints of the Rolling Stones, Aerosmith and Guns 'n' Roses in it and is a instant dance floor filler in the clubs in London. The album goes on then to the commercial 'For the Movies' which is a slow number that passed me by a little and I am into the band, this never really hit the marks in the UK but is a nice enough song.

Third track 'Ridin' is really killer and Josh Todd's vocals are really on form on this track and it is one you would really like to Rock out to. This song came off their 2001 release 'Time Bomb' which was their last album with their definitive original line-up. Their greatest hits album seems to go through a Rock out song to a slow song showing that they have great depth and like Aerosmith can mix up their material. One of my favourite songs on their 'The Best of' is 'Next to You' which is a very commercial catchy song with a good groove to it off their first album with the bands first changes in their line-up '15'.

Also off the same album 'Crazy B**ch' is one of the stand out tracks on this album, with it's great lyrics and up tempo melodies it really has a kick to it and it's a little dirty at the same time. Every time I go to a club, I can find all the pretty girls grinding to this and the dirty ones too!!! he, he, he maybe the pretty ones are the dirty ones. However this great track and the girls dancing will make you want to hit the dance floor yourself. Other stand out tracks are 'Rescue Me' and 'All night Long' before of which were anthems on Monday night Raw and Friday night Smackdown WWE wrestling programmes. They end the album with new track 'Nothing left but Tears' which shows they can still write a great Rock song even now and is also nice to end on something new. This song joins other new song 'Gluttony' which is a little bit of an evil track to have on a 'The Best of' album.

If you have not listened to Buckcherry and want to get into them, then this is a great album for you to purchase because it has all the hits on it. I think though most people that like this kind of music already have most of the material already and own the bands debut 'Buckcherry' album and '15' so I think this would just be a filler in a missing gap in their collection for them. Buckcherry are a great band with material to match so you can't really go to wrong with a 'Best of' album by them but I am sure it could have been more than twelve tracks long a little short for the money.
